Hi Coco,

Last week, we talked about what to do when you’re beginning to wonder if your child may need more support at school.

Whether your child already has a 504 or IEP, you’re beginning the evaluation process, or you simply want their teachers to understand them better, open communication matters.

Teachers see one part of our kids. We see another.

When we can share what we know—what our child enjoys, where they shine, what tends to be difficult, and what helps—we give teachers a fuller picture of the child sitting in their classroom.

And communication doesn’t have to begin only when there’s a problem.

That’s why we wanted to share a simple resource with you this week: Intro Emails to Teachers.

It includes templates and examples that parents can personalize, as well as templates older students can use to begin advocating for themselves.

Think of it as a starting point—not something you have to follow word for word. Make it your own. Keep it simple. The goal is simply to open the door to communication and help school and home work together to support your child.

Warmly,
Coco & Vicky

P.S. Even if the school year is already underway, it’s not too late to reach out. Sometimes a simple introduction can start a really helpful conversation.
