Hello, Coco
The holidays are here, and to be honest, I gave up chasing the “perfect” holiday season years ago. Now, I focus on one thing: peace.
Peace in my heart. Peace in my home. Peace from the endless “shoulds” and expectations that come with this time of year.
Can you relate?
There was a time when I thought peace meant having a quiet, conflict-free home. Spoiler alert: raising three boys and “quiet” don’t exactly go together. I also believed the Holidays had to be “perfect”—the perfect Christmas meal, decorations, gifts, and holiday cards. But none of that brought me the peace I was searching for.
Eventually, I learned that peace isn’t about perfection or silence. True peace is about embracing the messiness of life and still feeling grounded and centered.
It took me years to embrace this truth and to build the skills I needed to create a peaceful home. I had to:
- Recognize and manage my stress and triggers.
- Reframe my understanding of behavior (both mine and my kids’).
- Practice self-compassion over and over again.
It wasn’t easy, but it was worth it.
If your heart and home have been less than peaceful this season, I want to invite you to a special talk I’m giving this Saturday called “Peaceful Parenting Through Every Age & Stage.”
We’ll explore:
- What Peaceful Parenting looks like.
- How to avoid the common traps that lead to conflict and disconnection.
- Practical tools for improved connection and communication.
Parenting is the most important job we’ll ever have. It shapes the people our kids will become, the communities they’ll live in, and the world they’ll help create.
I believe a more peaceful society starts with a more peaceful home—and it starts with us.
Take the first step toward a more peaceful heart and home!
