Hello Coco,
Friendships can be one of the most rewarding parts of childhood.
They can also be one of the most painful.
As parents, few things tug at our hearts more than watching our child struggle to connect. We see them wanting friendships, longing to be included, and hoping to find their place. Yet for many kids, especially those with ADHD, anxiety, or social challenges, friendship often feels much more complicated than it looks from the outside.
Maybe your child hangs back instead of joining in.
Maybe they tell you they feel left out.
Maybe they want friends but aren't quite sure how to take that first step.
What can look like shyness, hesitation, or a lack of interest is often something much deeper. Sometimes the desire for connection is there, but the courage to approach someone, start a conversation, or join a group feels overwhelming.
This week, we're kicking off a three-part friendship series. In Part 1, we're exploring the challenges many children face when it comes to initiating friendships and why that first step can feel so difficult.

Next time, we'll continue the conversation by exploring what helps friendships grow once that first connection is made.
With love and respect,
Coco & Vicky
